WHAT IS THE MASTERCARD GAMER ACADEMY?
The Mastercard Gamer Academy is the first gaming-specific career development program from Mastercard, in partnership with G2 Esports and Riot Games. The program will help participants build critical and cutting-edge skills needed to pursue careers in esports and gaming — while providing unparalleled access to esteemed gaming and esports professionals and major esports events.
WHY WAS THIS PROGRAM CREATED?
Mastercard has been in the gaming and esports industry for five years and we’ve seen firsthand the unique responsibility that brands have to champion inclusivity in the sport. The Mastercard Gamer Academy will help create a supportive, inclusive environment for all to pursue their passions.
HOW LONG WILL THE ACADEMY LAST?
The program will run from February through November 2024.
WHAT WILL THE ACTIVITIES BE?
The Academy will be broken into 3 semesters and provide an overview of different career opportunities within the gaming and esports industry. These include: The Team, The Broadcast and The Organization.
Semester sessions feature both online and in-person sessions at the G2 Esports HQ in Berlin as well as trips to the League of Legends World Championship and VALORANT Champions in 2024.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?
Anyone from around the world aged 21+ can apply. You will need to have a valid passport and be able to travel. This program will be run in English. Void where prohibited.*
HOW WILL APPLICANTS BE SELECTED?
Applicants will be required to complete an online form and video submission. Both will be reviewed by a judging panel from senior leaders at Mastercard and G2 Esports. Ten candidates will be selected.*
WHAT IS THE CRITERIA FOR BEING SELECTED IN THE PROGRAM?
Applicants will be chosen based on their enthusiasm for the program and their passion for gaming and esports, as demonstrated by industry knowledge, experience and social platforms.*
